Every year, the editorial board of the Indian Journal of Urology selects the best original articles published in the journal and awards their first authors a certificate and plaque at the IJU Evening during the Annual meeting of the Urological Society of India.

Best Reviewer: Dr. Rajiv Yadav



Dr. Rajiv Yadav is currently working as a Senior Consultant, Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery at Medanta-The Medicity, Gurgaon. Dr. Yadav completed his general surgery and Urology residency from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and later did Fellowship in Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Cornell University Medical Center, New York, USA. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications. He is the recipient of numerous awards including "Best abstract award" by American Urological Association (2008), International College of Surgeons (2008), Sexual Medicine Society of North America and Society of Laparo-endoscopic Surgeons, Vattikuti Foundation-IJU Award for "Best Paper in Robotic Surgery" for the year 2014. For 2 consecutive years in 2008 and 2009, he was awarded the Best Clinical Research Award by American Urologic Association for his research work on prostate cancer. He is an editorial board member in the Indian Journal of Urology.

Special Appreciation: Dr. Madhu Agarwal



Prof. Madhu Sudan Agrawal has had a bright academic career, being First in University throughout MBBS with "Distinction/Honors" in all subjects. He bagged several "Gold Medals" including one for "Best Student." He passed MS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences and MCh (Urology) from SMS, Jaipur, in 1989. He obtained voluntary retirement as a Professor in SN Medical College, Agra, in 2010, after working there for 25 years. He has >100 publications in national and international journals, including chapters for several books. He has delivered >200 guest lectures and has presented >200 original research papers and has won many best paper and poster awards at national and international level. He has been among the pioneers in field of Endourology and has conducted many live workshops and training programs in PCNL at national and international level. He has served USI as a council member in North Zone, and then Treasurer and later as President during 2006-2007. He has been a council member of USI, convener of the Services Cell and Endourology Section, and Honorary Treasurer during 2009-2013. He has received the prestigious "PV Rao Oration Award" 2007, "PN Kataria Oration" 2011, "Marudhara Oration Award" 2013-2014, and "President's Gold Medal" of USI for 2015-2016.

Special Appreciation: Dr. Makrand Khochikar



Dr. Makarand Khochikar qualified as a surgeon in 1988 (Miraj), completed his residency in urology in 1992 (Mumbai), and then had further training in urology and urologic oncology at Bedford and Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge (UK), from 1993-1998. He returned to India in 1998 to establish a state of the art Uro-oncology Unit at Siddhi Vinayak Ganapati Cancer Hospital, Miraj. He has won many awards including the Dr. Kirpekar award and Gold Medal for standing first in university in Master of Surgery examination in 1988, Schering Prize and a Gold Medal for standing first at University of London in Diploma Urology examination in 1991, Vijayawada Best poster award and Brij Kishore Patna best paper award, the Urology Gold Medal (West Zone), Gold Medal and SLAUS oration by Sri Lanka Urology Association and Pinamaneni Oration and Gold Medal. He has produced many high-quality original publications; review articles in peer-reviewed national and international journals and contributed in book chapters. He has been invited as a national and international faculty to many centers and has conducted a large number of symposia, operative demonstrations, and delivered guest lectures across the globe. He served on editorial board of Indian Journal of Urology (2000-2009) and other international journals.
