Dear Sir,

We have read the comments by Kumar R on our article. We regret missing the communication published in the correspondence section of NMJI titled "Priapism following oral sildenafil abuse".[1] This oversight was unintentional. This case was primarily reported to highlight the existence of unfortunate myths surrounding the omnipotence of sildenafil, in all sorts of sex related problems. There is a need for steps to prevent unauthorized prescription and misuse of this drug. We also wanted to point out the fact that failure rates with distal shunt procedures are high.[2] Proximal caverno-spongiosal shunt procedures are more successful even in cases of failed distal shunt procedures. A delayed proximal caverno-shunt was successful as reported in our case.
